Born in 1964, Alessandro "Alex" Volpi began playing & listening to music at the age of 4 thank to his family. Beatles, Rolling Stones, Burt Bacharach, James Brown, David Bowie, Santana were often played by his mom at home.... As a teenager he played in various bands from his town as a bass player and keyboardist. At 20 he started working in one of the most popular studios in Italy, Fonoprint Bologna, where he learned from the best sound engineer of the period (Maurizio Biancani, Roberto Costa, Luca Bignardi) and began teaming up with producers Celso Valli and Mauro Malavasi. Working with stars like Zucchero, Lucio Dalla, Eros Ramazzotti, to name a few, he became one of the youngest sound engineers renowned in Italy. At the age of 24 he moved to another big studio in Bologna, Antoniano of the Minor Friars, where he learned working for TV shows with Maestro Paolo Zavallone, that became his “mentor”. In a couple of years’ time Alex became a specialist in the field of sound effects, sound design and multi-channel mixing. Now, at the age of (you calculate..), is still working for Antoniano Studios with the mansion of Chief Sound Engineer, as well as being a pro for various artists ranging from classical to rock and pop music. |
